NZU Announces Junior Development Programme
New Zealand Ultimate is very excited to announce a series of regional youth Ultimate development days. The purpose of these youth events is to provide new players with the basic skills needed to play the sport, and to extend the skills of those young people who are already keen Ultimate players. These events also mark the start of New Zealand Ultimate’s programme to send a boys and girls team to the World Junior Ultimate Championships in August 2012.

Each event will offer participants the chance to have a go and learn skills from some of the best coaches New Zealand has to offer. Those attending the regional days will also have the opportunity to be considered for selection for Regional Junior Representative squads which will be announced following the development days.
The selected rep teams (Northern, Central and Southern) will compete on the weekend of 18.19 February at a New Zealand Junior Ultimate Championships. This national juniors tournament will also be used as a selection camp for teams to compete at the World Junior Ultimate Championships in 2012 to be held in Europe.
Click here for the information pack with more details about the World Championships and the commitments that will be required of those who are selected.
Note: Players do not have to themselves forward for selection for the Regional Rep Teams to attend the development day - it's open to all. Players also do not have to put themselves forward for selection to the New Zealand team if they do make the Regional Rep Team. However, we really encourage any player under 19 years old (born 1993 or later) to seriously consider putting themselves up for selection and getting involved in this once in a lifetime opportunity to represent your region and country in this great sport!
